W00t - import working
Finally got some time to work on the port to Wordpress... seems to be going really well. I've pretty much perfected the import of the 853 (yes that's right... 853!!) posts... the only things I have to worry about now are setting up the users and importing the comments.
So my question to you all is this... Do we move forward and chuck up the new site in hastte (with an out-of-the-box theme and temporarily lose all our comments til I can figure out how to import them) - let's call that the two phase plan... or do we wait til we have a fully featured site including custom built theme and all the comments? Let's call that the one phase plan.
In the meantime, the avatars on the new site (your pretty little pictures) are hosted by www.gravatar.com
, so I suggest you head along there and set yourself up with an image. Gravatars are pretty cool, coz you can reuse them across multiple Wordpress sites.
Lemme know which you think would be the way to go... two phase or one phase.
I'm for the one phase plan. I know it will take a bit longer but as there isn't really any problem with the current site, I don't see the need to break it, even if it is only temporarily :)

... on the plus side... the new site looks SWEEEEEEET with an out of the box theme. At the moment though all of the posts have been written by a user called "import"

w00ps... I seem to have set you up as a user, Gem! This was meant to serve as a method of testing my conversion of users. Wasn't supposed to email you!! But now you know where to look @ the new site anyways!! I'll get you other blokes on there shortly!

haha, I've just been having a nosey around there and have set up my Gravatar. And I've even been able to successfully upload a photo on the new site - something I have never been able to do with the old one. So maybe the old site was broken........ :)

Maybe it was just poorly coded...

You can't trust these programmers. I'm sure they put bugs in deliberately.

Invites have gone out to y'all now... the only thing that is missing (besides a custom built theme) is the historic comments so we're almost ready to go!
